    Journeys section

    in General Discussions

I generally agree with the proposals related to journeys. In particular the speed limit reductions. However, I do not agree with the possibility of 15mph through the centre of Tetbury. A 20mph limit would be fine. My observations are that cars often go through the centre at around 20mph,or slower, due to parked, or oncoming traffic. Also, do not agree that it is difficult to distinguish on the speedometer, between 30mph and 20mph. I think that infarct that 15mph is more difficult to distinguish with 20mph. I would urge a 20mph limit, through the centre of Tetbury, not 15mph.

The journeys section should also tackle the awful bus service. A minimum target for additional services, should be a half hourly peak (each one) service, then an hourly service. This should link Stroud and Cirencester, using a route that goes through Nailesworth, Tetbury and Kemble. it is my view that Kemble station is an underused resource. It is in an area where I feel there is substantial opportunity for housing growth in an enlarged settlement boundary, that should be part of the review to the Cotswold District Plan. Obviously, there would also need to be provision in the enlarged settlement boundary, for a new medium sized retail unit, and other appropriate services depending on the scale of the new residential. Within the review to the CDC Local Plan process, local farmers in the periphery of Kemble should be approached to see if they are willing to sell land for allocation for planned future housing growth.
