Further ways to reduce one's carbon footprint
Reduce air travel (buy offsets if you must fly - there are companies that will plant saplings with offset money).
Use trains, bikes, buses, legs. Join car-sharing schemes. Drive more economically e.g. don’t accelerate quickly.
Shift towards a more plant-based diet (beef and lamb have much larger carbon footprints than vegetables). Buy locally produced food in season when possible (and help local producers). Avoid flown-in food (e.g. asparagus from Peru). Stop wasting food (the average UK household wastes 25% of food).
Avoid buying goods from countries which are increasing their carbon footprint (notably China, India, and other countries in S.E. Asia).
Reuse, repair, recycle as much as one can.
